POSITION SUMMARY
The EWP Floor & Truss Designer is involved in assisting the Sales and Design Departments with preparing correspondence, layouts, reports, statements, and other material. The EWP Floor & Truss Designer may also be involved in other duties as required by the department or the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties
- Design, Estimate and perform layout and consultations of floors or roofs for residential, multi family, commercial, and industrial construction.
- Prepare shop drawings for manufacturing and erecting wood building components.
- Provides technical support to customers, production, and sales staff.
- Consults with engineers, building officials and contractors on projects specs.
- Make site visits when required to provide assistance to customers.
- Other job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Training: Provided on the job.
Requirements:
- 1 year experience with excellent understanding of building materials industry.
- Diploma from a recognized architectural, civil or construction engineering program.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Experience with Mitek design software is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic functional math without the aid of a calculator.
- Positive energy and problem-solving approach in all situations.
- Strong attentional to detail.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/UNIQUE ASPECTS OF JOB:
- Physical Exertion: Administration staff is required to sit for long periods of time and work with computer programs and data bases.
- Equipment Used: Photocopier, telephone, computer, printer, etc.
Must have own transportation. Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, wage based on experience.
